The PTFA's top 10 this term!

From discos and gardening to coffees, craft sessions, and visits to Santa's Grotto - there's something for everyone in the months ahead. Don't miss out - get the dates in your diary now!

Here’s what's in store:

  1. Bulb planting, Saturday 14 September 9-11am

Help us keep the raised beds at the front of school looking their best by joining us this Saturday to do a spot of gardening, and bulb planting (a reminder that this is one for the grown-ups as we can't have children on site on that day).

  2. Launch of the St Bon's Pre-Loved Uniform Shed, Monday 16 September

The St Bon’s Pre-Loved Uniform Shed is open for business from Monday 16 September! The shed - which can be found to the right of the school building / the mural, near the recycling areas - will be open all day, Monday to Friday, so feel free to pop in whenever you can. Come browse a range of pre-loved school uniform (with and without the St Bon’s logo) as well as school shoes, coats, and bags. It's 'pay what you can' and all donations will go towards the St Bon’s PTFA - you can pay online via Sumup by scanning the QR code which will be advertised in the shed, or drop cash into the secure box. Grab a bargain and support the school and the environment (if you have uniform to donate, please bring it to the school office - many thanks!).

  3. Coffee morning for new parents and carers, Friday 27 September, 9am

Calling all new St Bon's parents and carers! You are invited to a PTFA coffee morning on Friday 27 September at 9am, to enjoy a cuppa and some home baked treats. This is a lovely chance to meet other new parents and carers, have a chat, and ask any questions you might have about school life. Little ones are very welcome (there will be squash/ soft drinks available). Just pop into the Presbytery which is the door to the left of the church entrance.

  4. Christmas designs

The children will soon be busy creating Christmas designs in school. You'll be able to view these designs via the Mychildsart website later in the Autumn (you'll be sent a link and a code to access your child's work). You'll then be able to add the design to a range of personalised gifts including Christmas cards, to order in time for Christmas. The St Bon's PTFA will receive 20 per cent commission on all products ordered!

  5. Asda cashpot for schools, until 30 November

Parentkind – a charity that supports school PTAs - have teamed up with Asda, who is making millions of pounds available to donate to primary schools across the UK through their ‘Cashpot for Schools’ initiative. To support the St Bon's PTFA, all you have to do is opt-in through the Asda Rewards app, choose our school, shop and scan in store or shop online at Asda.com. Between 2 September and 30 November 2024 – every time you shop with Asda using your Asda Rewards app, Asda will donate 0.5 per cent of the value of your shop to St Bon's! For more details, visit asda.com/cashpotforschools

  6. Bag2School, Friday 11 October

We've booked a Bag2School collection for Friday 11 October. Simply fill bags with used, good quality clothes, paired shoes, handbags, hats, bags, scarves and ties, household linen etc and bring to school drop off, labelled with your child's class. Visit the Bag2School website for more information on what can be donated.

  7. School disco, Friday 18 October

Who doesn’t love a good school disco? DJ Morgan (aka Mr Morgan) will be spinning the latest hits, and there'll be snacks, drinks, face painting, glitter, and glow sticks. The Reception/KS1 disco will be from 5pm to 6.15pm, and the KS2 disco from 6.45pm to 8pm. Tickets will go on sale a few weeks before the big event. Full details will be coming soon!

  8. Christmas Craft Evening, Friday 15 November

Parents, this one's for you! Take a break from the Christmas rush and join us for a relaxing Christmas Craft Evening hosted by Art-K Henleaze! Enjoy a festive night of creativity as you make your own decorations, and gifts. No crafting experience is necessary – it’s all about having fun and getting into the Christmas spirit! There will be mulled wine, mince pies, a bar, and plenty of laughter. It’s the perfect way to unwind and socialise with others. Watch this space for more details.

  9. Christmas Fair, Sunday 8 December from 2-5pm

The event of the season has been booked! Our St Bon's Christmas Fair is always full of festive cheer. This year’s fair will feature an array of stalls, games, and activities for the whole family. You'll be able to book tickets for a visit to Santa's grotto too. More details will be coming soon. If you are interested in joining our Christmas Fair team just drop us a line contact@stbonsptfa.com. We are currently looking for donations and sponsorship from local businesses. If you are also able to do matched funding through your work, we would love to hear from you.

  10. PTFA social, Thursday 12 December, 8pm

We've booked a space in the Gloucester Old Spot on Kellaway Avenue, for a very informal 'PTFA social' on Thursday 12 December from 8pm. All are welcome. Please do come along and say hello, we would love to see you.

We need you!

We are on the look out for more volunteers to help run events over the next term, and beyond! All offers of help are welcome - it doesn't matter whether you can only offer a small amount of time - it's all valuable and much appreciated.

We need volunteers to help with the following:

  • Contacting businesses for prizes and donations for our Christmas Fair / silent auction

  • Planning for the Christmas Craft Evening.

If you would like to get more involved in PTFA life, contribute ideas, get stuck into fundraising activities, or just to listen in and find out what's going on, then why not come along to our next PTFA meeting on Wednesday 16 October at 8pm online? It was great to welcome several new parents to the meeting earlier this week and to explain a bit more to them about what we do as a PTFA and what opportunities there are to get involved (the minutes from that meeting are available here).

Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for regular updates and news, and keep an eye out on your class Whatsapp too. Any questions please feel free to contact any member of the PTFA committee, or your class rep.
