We're excited to share that we'll soon have a brand new playground ready for the children to enjoy at the back of school, all funded by the PTFA!!
Thanks to Pentagon Play (who also installed our trim trail), work has already started to add new line markings to the back playground, and you might have also spotted a new line marking / game in the front playground too.
Last term we held a focus group with the children, and asked what they would love to see in their outdoor space. Their ideas were clear and practical:
Climbing equipment and challenges for upper body strength
A court or a pitch for football and ball games
More four square courts
Space to be active and space to wind down.
We're pleased to say that many of their ideas are being brought to life:
Line markings for games and sports which have already gone down
Play equipment will be installed along the grassy edge between the trees later this month including forest pull up bars, and roll over bars, forest monkey bars with step up logs, and a grip and grasp traverse (see the illustrations below - noting these are illustrations only and the positioning of some items of equipment will change on installation).

This is all part of the final phase of our Grow With It project - our long term PTFA led plan to transform underused outdoor areas across the school. After adding raised beds, murals, and the school garden (including the greenhouse and gardening kits) in phases 1 and 2, this is our most ambitious phase yet - and has been guided by what the children would like in their outdoor space. We've worked really closely with school and with Phoenix Play to make sure their ideas can be incorporated.
And there's more to come...
The children had plenty more ideas too - a graffiti wall, quiet seating, a seed planting area (some have already brought seeds in!), and storage for games equipment. These are all things we hope to add in the future.
Thank you
Thank you to everyone who has supported the PTFA to enable us to reach this point. We'll be spending £10,762 on the installation of the playground equipment and line markings. Our annual report shows the spending on earlier phases of the project. We had a high fundraising target for all phases of the Grow With It project of around £20,000 - a big ask for a small school - but we've done it!
We can't wait to see the children enjoying this space! Keep tuned for more updates on the installation of the playground equipment!
